GPS run Kors I Knægte.
Prepared by RAMS Parochial Church Council School Service of Ribe Diocese, School Service of Quedens Gaard in Ribe & UC-Syddanmark.
Intro to the teacher.
In this event, the students must be in groups of 2 or 3 on the journey around Ribe by GPS. Here they will get knowledge about Ribe during the Reformation period. With the GPS and mobile phone, they solve the assignments about the Reformation period, illuminating the visible clues in Ribe town.
The title “Kors I Knægte” comes from the fact that there is a “cross” cut into many of the supporting columns in the old half-timbered houses from the Reformation Period.
Before the run starts, there must be research in the school. After the run, discuss it in school.
The ideal route should be about 4 km in length, and take about 3 hours. The groups of students must go on their own, the teacher is there as a “central command post”.
There are two GPS class sets of with 13 units available. You can book one set from the tourist office in Ribe, and the other set from the School Service in Esbjerg Municipal School Authority. The “check-in posts” are coded into the GPS sets. The GPS brand is from Garmin, and the program used is “Whereigo”.
The GPS batteries are fully charged when delivered.
In the GPS case will be a summary of practical information to the teacher, and small laminated maps of Ribe for the student groups.
Check-in posts on the run: There are 13 “posts”, and the same amount of GPS units. The groups start from 1, 2, 3, etc., respectively. They go to next post in sequence, and when all 13 posts have been reached, they must go back to the Square (Torvet).
On each and every post the students get via GPS some information & some assignment. These assignments must be sorted out in school afterwards.
